It is very easy as entrepreneurs to get really caught up in things and stress out about everything that we have going on. All of the various challenges that arise, all of the different things we need to manage and learn, all of the big dreams we want to accomplish, and the list goes on and on.

It might come as a big surprise or even a shock to some individuals knowing that stress is actually a choice that you make. It is totally up to you whether or not you decide to feel stressed out and it all comes down to your emotional reaction and response to any challenge or situation. In other words, the choice is totally something that we can control.

Viktor Frankl, in Man’s Search For Meaning, wrote that everyone can be taken away from you in life except the way you choose to respond to things. So anytime you have something challenging that you are experiencing, decide how you will respond, and be sure to do it in such a way that instead of holding your back, it helps you with moving forward.

I have of course dealt with plenty of stress myself. However, a simple change in perspective helps me with transforming the way that I respond to a challenge when it comes up. So in this article I will be sharing 3 strategies with you that help me to change my perspective anytime I feel stress coming on, and helps me respond in a constructive and positive way to challenges.

Always remember that stress isn’t real. Instead, it is something made up inside of our minds in response to a situation that we are experiencing. How we respond to things that are occurring around us can greatly you or you can make the choice to not allow it to affect you in a negative way.

As entrepreneurs, it can be quite easy to get very stressed out by all of the things that we are attempting to accomplish. Just remember, you really don’t need to feel that way. Whenever you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed, let go of the negative emotions and thoughts that are starting to fill your head. That will allow you to change your your approach and perspective completely to the situation. Choose how you will respond in such a way that it helps you with moving forward, instead of holding you back in any way.

Stress arises from various issues that are external to us. Maybe something went wrong, or there are so many challenges arising so quickly that it is hard to keep up with all of the work that you have to do. Whatever the case might be, we go so stressed and overwhelmed by it from getting caught up in everything. So make yourself step back to get a bird’s eye view of what really is happening, in order to remove yourself. Instead focus on changing your attitude about the situation. It will definitely make you feel a lot better – I promise you – and help you understand things better as well. You will grow as a person and be able to learn from the actual experience.

After you have carefully looked over the situation that you are stressed out about and have changed your perspective of things, attach a different emotion to the situation that isn’t stress. Take that power back and choose an empowering or positive emotion instead to help propel you forward. If you have made mistakes, make a promise to yourself that you learn as much as you can from this situation. If you have to give a speech in front of a large audience and you are feeling overwhelmed, try to envision having a positive outcome, and in your mind hear the cheers and applause. It is totally up to you which emotions you attach to a certain situation, so choose a constructive, positive emotion that will impact your business, your life, and your well-being in a good way.
